Sunday Funday

Yesterday was a busy and eventful day. I woke up at 7:00 to find that Daddy was already gone to head out on his week long business trip in Minnesota. I came downstairs expecting to find him and immediately started asking, "Where Dada?" Mommy told me he was working and that satisfied me. We ate breakfast, well Mommy ate breakfast, I picked at mine. Then we watched some cartoons and read some books for awhile. Mommy noticed that I looked like I was trying to do something in my diaper, so she asked me if I wanted to sit on my potty. I told her no, but let her remove my diaper and put me on the potty anyway. At first I fussed, but then I sat there for a minute or two. When I got up, Mommy saw that I had gone pee pee in the potty! She did this really annoying cheer and danced around like it was such a big deal or something. I thought she looked pretty silly. Then we called Nana and got her to cheer for me too. I talked to her for a minute and then I hung up on her. Still working on my phone etiquette. Mommy and I took the potty seat into the bathroom and deposited my contribution into the toilet. I got to flush, and I yelled, "BYE POTTY!!! BYE BYE!!!" Mommy is really hoping that this is the start of my doing this on a regular basis. I did really well for about a week and then I didn't want to have anything to do with it for about 6 months now. Maybe I'm starting to be ready for this.

We went to church and that was fun as always. I enjoyed talking during Children's Time and spent some time sitting on Grandpa's lap, trying to steal Grandma's water. We went home, ate some lunch, and Mommy laid me down for a nap. I never did nap, but Mommy did.

After naptime we went to Grandma's for a bridal shower for a cousin's new bride. I did very well playing by myself for quite awhile, then Mommy told Amber she could play with me. I didn't thing so. I stole all the toys back away from her, said, "NO!" and shoved her right in the face. Mommy gave me a stern talking to and removed me from the situation. I didn't think it was very nice and cried. Mommy took me downstairs after it was all over and I finally took a nap for quite awhile. Apparently it wasn't long enough though because I was still in a horrible mood and ended up slapping Mommy in the face when she told me "no" about something. I was just plain difficult. Better luck tomorrow, I guess.

Big News

Mommy and Daddy went to their 20 week ultrasound and they found out what the little baby in Mommy's belly is going to be. If you want to know the big news, go to Baby Ihle's blog to see the latest post. If you don't want to know, better not go there!

Pony Rides

I like to get pony rides from Daddy. I have a little trouble staying on though.

Silliness

Drinking my milk and covering my head with my "snuggles."
These are the silly glasses Nana bought for me.
Daddy thinks my glasses look like a sillier version of the kind of glasses that Grandma Jean wore in high school a looooong time ago.

Jacob Riis Park

After we finished at Floyd Bennett Field we made the short trek over to Jacob Riis Park in Rockaway. It is a very nice beach, protected by the National Parks Service and name for Jacob Riis, a pioneer in photography and a champion for the less-fortunate.
This is a picture of the beach. It was very nice.
This was my very first time to go to a real beach and dip my toes in the Atlantic Ocean. Here are Mommy and I waiting for a small wave to come in.
I kept trying to pick up the wet sand, but Mommy was afraid I would get overtaken by a wave to the face.
Just waiting for another wave. I thought the water was the best, even though it was really chilly!

Floyd Bennett Field

On Sunday we made a trip to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. Floyd Bennett Field was the first municipal airport in New York City. This picture is of the original air traffic building, which is now the visitor's center. Unfortunately, since we went on Sunday, the buildings were closed. But that didn't stop us from having a good time.
The area has been placed on National Register of Historic Places and is also a part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, managed by the National Parks Service. Some of the hangars are now functioning as a sports complex.
This building is now a museum for the park.
At one end of the park we found a really amazing view of the city. Can you spot the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building here?
One of the really cool things about the Field is that a lot of the "roads" are really the old runways. We thought this was really cool to be able to look straight down the runway as we drove through the park.

Sagamore Hill and the North Shore

Ready to go! Come on guys, lets go!!!
Sagamore Hill was the summer home of President Teddy Roosevelt. It was known as the "Summer White House" while he was in office. They were having a big day when we went on the 4th of July, including a demonstration by a group known as "T.R.'s Rough Riders."
A picture of the main house.
A nicer view of the main house.
After we spent some time at the main house, we walked a very nice nature trail behind the property that led down to the North Shore. We walked across a long boardwalk and along the beach. When we were on our way back up to the trail from the beach, I almost fell off the boardwalk while Mommy and Daddy were putting their shoes on. I was messing around by the railing, just like Mommy had told me not to do. I had both hands on the lower support beam, and leaned back just far enough that my feet came out from under me and slid right off the floor of the boardwalk. It was a good thing I was holding on to the railing and that Mommy moved fast and grabbed my arms, because otherwise I would have dropped the 6 or 8 feet to the marshy ground below.

A New York Birthday Party

This is my good friend Emily. We are best buds.
This is me wearing Emily's faux-Versace Chinatown sunglasses. I thought they were awesome, and I thought it was really awesome that Emily let me wear them every time we were together.
Since I am the quintessential fashionista, it's only fitting that I would be found in Versace.
Here is Great-Grandma Rose Ihle after we sang her happy birthday. She is joined by her son, Uncle Jerry, his wife Aunt Sue, and their daughter Marybeth. They had us all over for a barbecue full of yummy food.
This is what Mommy and I did during the happy birthday singing and cake eating.
Mommy made Daddy take a picture of my sleepy face because it makes her laugh so much. One eye half-opened and the mouth open too.

The Airport

Daddy took this picture of Mommy and I walking back through the airport after going to change my diaper. This is also the last shot of me with my favorite green bottle before I chewed a hole in the nipple and couldn't use it for the rest of the weekend.

Home.

We are back home. Mommy is exhausted and has to get herself ready for a day catching up at work and then a doctor's appointment at 5:00. She will update later, hopefully tonight, with pictures and videos of our trip.
